“Moingis Pite Il Penen

I looked deep and saw the hurt in your eyes,
Your words pierced me like thunder through the skies.
“Ye retai oporo tei le fei ye olpeyei”, “Ki ma ke kulu metine nele pite le ma lailoif ki re le me lesiki re launkei ki kir tei,” you said,
This pulls my heart into the depths.
Your message sank into the pits of my soul,
A truth I couldn’t run or hide.
You know when you do that, I stray,
Your words have left me lost today.

I know I dimmed the light you were counting on yesterday,
Missing the chance to savour the moment we planned in our own way.
The moment for us to affectionately share,
It’s not because I don’t care,
But life caught me unprepared, unaware.
And now I see the pain laid bare.
It wasn’t that I didn’t care,
But my own steps faltered unaware.

Despite I placed my hand on my chest, felt my heart and its “tuf tuf” beatings and quietly whisper to myself,
“All is well”,
I still hold regret within my heart,
Your heart deserves my very best.
Forgive me for the time I lost,
I’ll make it right, whatever the cost.

Your love means more than words can say,
I’ll prove it to you, day by day.
I’ll work to heal the hurt I made,
And cherish you in every shade.
